The Truth about Today's Youth

          In Hawaii, many of our youth don't care that they are failing and don't even realize that they don't care - it is just
          the way it is.

         They don't want to be different, they want to be the same - to belong.

         Many don't see that there is anything they can do about their predicaments.

         Many are vulnerable, because they are not sure inside - Shiy, timid, uncertain, afraid.   

         Many are hurting inside, and because they are hurting, they hurt themselves and/or they hurt other.

         Many youth are simply not getting their needs met - they need to be listened to, loved unconditionally, respected, valued,
         accepted just as they are, and they need to be demanded of.

         Many don't know that they are loved.

         Many of our children don't see how they could ever own a home on their island. The island that everone else comes to
         on vacations and enjoys.

         Our children don't know who they want to be when they grow up.

         Some have never even been to the beach, swam in the ocean, paddled a canoe, or surfed Hawaii's waves.

Many do not know that they are gifted, intelligent and beautiful.  Something is using his energy, distracting her, preventing him from caring or focusing, and producing her best.  They are trying , even if it doesn't look like it to us adults, and yet they are totally unaware of, or  incapable of doing "more, better, or different" - totally incapable of caring about the future consequences of their actions today.  
If they could they would.


Breakthroughs Programs
Each program begins with awakening the dream within each young person. The youth start to see their own possibilities.

It continues until every youth knows they have choices.  Power is having choices, rather than feeling helpless.

It completes with each of them understanding why they weren't making the best choices in the past, caring about their future, and knowing they possess the power to make it happen.  

The results are youth who are motivated and who set about creating the real future they want for themselves.






Breakthroughs programs accelerate the learning growth and development of young people.

Breakthroughs gets at what's eating today's youth - their concerns, no matter how small, listens to them, and in the process gives them back a new sence of self.

Breakthroughs gives children back their childhood, and youth discover they have a future.
